Exciting news! The world’s highest motorable road, Umlingla Pass, is now open for a thrilling bike trip. This journey is no easy feat, so be prepared physically and mentally. Note that there’s no cellular service except for BSNL Postpaid in Hanle. Departing from Hanle, you’ll encounter the Hanle Bridge and the Kalatartar plain, a barren straight road where you might spot Tibetan Gazelles.

The Umlingla bike trip features the picturesque Kala Tartar plains and a blacktop road. Riding towards Nerbo-la Pass (5282 m), take a break to enjoy the stunning view. Keep an eye out for a signboard declaring you’re above Everest Base Camp—a heartwarming achievement. Continuing on, you’ll reach the world’s highest motorable road, Umlingla Pass (5798 m), surpassing Khardungla Pass.

Venture a bit further to reach Demjok, the last village on the Indo-China border. Remember, there are no restaurants or ATMs from Hanle to Umlingla. The distance from Hanle to the top is 75 km, taking around 5 hours via Nerbo-la Pass. Another route via Photi la Pass is 115 km, taking roughly 7 hours.

To embark on this adventure, reach Hanle through various routes:

  • Fly directly to Leh, then visit Hanle via Karu – Upshi – Chumathang – Nyoma – Hanle (260 km, 8 hrs).
  • Start from Manali – Jespa – Serchu – Tsomoriri – Hanle (490 km, 2 days).
  • After the Nubra and Pangong trip, go to Chuchul – Tsaga-la – Nyoma – Hanle.

Not Included in the Tour:

  • Anything Extra: If it’s not on the list, it’s not in the deal.
  • Costs from any bumps or bruises your bike might get on the journey.
  • Nature Unforeseen events like landslides or roadblocks – sorry, we can’t control Mother Nature.
  • Any entrance fees for the monastery and monument borne by visitors.
  • 5% GST, which is an additional charge applicable to the package.
Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrival and Acclimate for the New Altitude

Difficulty: Easy, Altitude Gain: 3500m

Highlights: Shanti Stupa, Leh Palace

  • Arrive at Leh airport, greeted by our representative, and transfer to your hotel.
  • Take it easy today to acclimate to the altitude.
  • In the evening, visit Shanti Stupa, Leh Palace, and explore Leh’s local bazaar.
  • Overnight stay in Leh.
Day 2 – Leh Local Sightseeing | Sangam Point | Magnetic Hill

Difficulty: Easy, Altitude Gain: 3500m

Highlights: Hall of Fame, Sangam Point, Magnetic Hill

  • Explore Sham Valley, visit the Hall of Fame, Sangam Point, and experience the Magnetic Hill phenomenon.
  • Lunch at Nemo market, back to Leh, and explore Leh Bazaar.
  • Prepare for your ride to Umling-la pass.
  • Overnight stay in Leh.
Day 3 – Leh to Hanle via Nyoma | Chumathang Hot Spring

Leh to Hanle via Nyoma | Chumathang Hot Spring

Highlights: Hot Spring, Highest Astronomical Observatory of India

  • Start early for a 260 km ride to Hanle via Upshi and Chumathang.
  • Enjoy a bath at Chumathang hot spring.
  • Visit Nyoma village and reach Hanle in the evening.

  • Overnight stay at Hanle.
Day 4 – Hanle to Umling-la Pass | Nerbo-la Pass | Kalatartar Plain

Difficulty: Hard,Altitude of Umling-la Pass: 5798m

Highlights: Offroad Heaven, Blacktop Road, Nerbo-la Pass (5282m)

  • Take a hearty breakfast and head towards Hanle bridge.
  • Ride through Kalatartar plain, an off-road terrain.
  • Experience the blacktop road, reaching Nerbo-la pass and above Everest base camp.
  • Reflect on your achievement and return to Hanle.
  • Overnight stay at Hanle.
Day 5 – Hanle to Pangong Lake via Loma Bend | Tsaga-la Pass

Difficulty: Hard,Altitude of Pangong Lake: 4200m

Highlights: Tsaga-la, Pangong Lake, Chuchul War Memorial

  • Leave for Pangong Lake, starting early.
  • Pass through Loma bend, Tsaga-la pass, and Chuchul war memorial.
  • Visit Chuchul village, have lunch, and reach the Pangong Lake campsite.
  • Enjoy the view and stay overnight.
Day 6 – Pangong to Nubra Valley | Sand Dune

Difficulty: Medium, Altitude of Nubra: 3000m

Highlights: Shayok Valley, Zipline, Camel Riding, Diskit Monastery

  • Witness the sunrise at Pangong Lake.
  • Ride through Shayok Valley to Nubra, indulging in zipline, camel riding, and cultural shows.
  • Overnight stay at Nubra campsite.
Day 7 – Nubra to Leh | Khardung-la Pass (5359m)

Difficulty: Hard, Altitude of Leh: 3500m

Highlights: Khardung-la Pass, Valley of Flowers

  • Ride back to Leh from Nubra, visiting Diskit Monastery if time permits.
  • Enjoy the scenic valley of Nubra on your way to Leh.
  • Reach Khardung-la Pass (second highest motorable road) and descend to Leh.

T&C & Cancellation Policy

Booking Information:

  • To reserve a slot, pay 30% person when booking the trip
  • Balance payment due 15 days before the tour starts
  • Endeavour Ladakh is not responsible for roadblocks, flight cancellations, or unforeseen situations
  • For children aged 5-8 yrs, it’s 30% of the total cost (without bed)
  • Children above 8 yrs are considered adults (extra mattress provided)

Cancellation Policy:

  • 10% cancellation charges if cancelled 30 days prior to the tour.
  • 25% cancellation charges if cancelled within 20 days prior to the tour.
  • 50% cancellation charges if cancelled within 10 days prior to the tour.
  • No refund for tours starting within 10 days, after starting, or in the middle of the tour.
