Ladakh boasts mighty rivers, offering a challenge for all levels of rafters. The Zanskar and Indus Rivers, ranging from Grade 2 to Grade 4 plus, provide exhilarating white water conditions. You don’t need prior experience to enjoy rafting; we offer beginners a course in rowing and safety procedures before setting off. The only exclusions are those under 10 years old or individuals with asthma or serious heart conditions.

Three main rivers await your rafting adventure in Ladakh during the summer: Zanskar River Rafting, Indus River Rafting, and Shayok River Rafting.

Indus River:

As the longest river in Asia with a length of 3180 km, the Indus originates from Mansarovar Lake in the Tibetan plateau. Flowing through the Sham Valley of Ladakh towards Gilgit-Baltistan in Pakistan and the Hindu Kush ranges, it traverses the entire length of Pakistan before merging into the Arabian Sea.

Zanskar River:

The tributaries of the Zanskar River, emerging from the Zanskar Valley (known as the “Grand Canyon of Asia”), join with the Doda River to form the main Zanskar River, spanning around 340km. This river flows through the massive Zanskar gorge and meets the Indus near Nimu village, creating the stunning confluence known as Sangam.

Shayok River:

The Shayok River, flowing through northern Ladakh and Gilgit-Baltistan of Pakistan, covers around 550 km. Originating from the Rimo glacier in the Nubra Valley, it passes through Turtuk and Tyakshi before entering Pakistan. The river merges with the Indus at Keris, to the east of the town of Sardu.
